Hernan Romero

Gets Personal: The Importance of Music in People's Lives

World-renowned guitarist, composer, producer, and Grammy Award-winner, Hernan Romero will speak about his musical journey and his belief in the vital importance of music, not only in his life, but also in the lives of almost everybody it touches. His progressive style of music, while rooted in Flamenco, transcends national, cultural, and genre boundaries and brings people together from diverse, dissimilar backgrounds.

Romero grew up in a musical family. His mother, an award-winning singer, surrounded young Hernan with the best of musical environments; he began playing guitar at age six and grew into an accomplished musician. He has collaborated with some of the world's finest guitarists and other notable artists. In 1990, he co-produced and played on Di Meola Plays Piazzolla, beginning a fertile association with Al Di Meola that resulted in 11 other albums. Romero's own passionate music has been captured in a series of CDs since the late 1990s.
